About the Centre

The Jesuits of Canada and Local Indigenous Partners Chart a New Path for Anishinabe Spiritual Centre
Montreal (Quebec), February, 4, 2025 – The Jesuits of Canada are pleased to announce a collaborative decision regarding the future of the Anishinabe Spiritual Centre (ASC). We have committed to working with a select group of local Indigenous partners—who have been actively involved with ASC throughout its history—as well as the local Catholic bishop. Together, we are moving towards transferring the Centre to a new governance structure that honours and preserves its Anishinaabe and Catholic identity.

Throughout this period of transition, ASC will remain fully operational. Thank you for your continued support.

Overview

The Anishinabe Spiritual Centre is a place of peace, a beautiful retreat space and a welcoming conference centre. It is an ideal setting for seminars, workshops, business meetings, group retreats and directed and un-directed individual retreats. Since 1981, ASC has welcomed many people, indigenous and non-indigenous to deepen their spirituality, to become educated and trained in the leadership of their faith and to retreat and recreate.

Our timber frame and log buildings offer comfortable, rustic accommodations. Situated in the wilderness of Norther Ontario, in the Manitoulin Island/North Shore Region. Our cottages are nestled among trees at the edge of scenic Anderson Lake.
