From May 2021 until July 2022, the Society of Jesus celebrates an Ignatian Year.
What is an Ignatian Year? May 20, 2021 marks the 500th anniversary of St. Ignatius’ conversion — that fateful day when Ignatius the soldier, struck by a cannonball, began his transformation into Ignatius the pilgrim.
This year is a call to allow the Lord to bring about our own transformation, inspired by Ignatius’ personal experience. Guided by the Universal Apostolic Preferences, the year’s theme will be “To See All Things New in Christ.”
A retreat booklet will be provided. As was the case last year, the retreat can be made in an eight-day, one-month, or tow month format. Instructions are included in the introduction to the booklet. I would like to remind you that the period from July 22 to 31 has been set aside so that as many of us as possible make the retreat “together but apart” wherever we are.
You are encouraged to find your own spiritual director. There are no on-site directors. A small number of directors (online) will be available to those who cannot make their own arrangements. There are no group activities.
Finally, three of our retreat centres will be open to receive retreatants during the July 22-31 period.
