Spiritual Retreats for Adults

Listening to Indigenous Voices: 3-Day & 5-Day Retreat Experiences

There are places that invite you to slow down, and others that ask something more… to listen and reflect. Here, the rhythm of the land, the guidance of Elders, and the stillness of reflection come together in a shared journey of faith and understanding. Through the Listening to Indigenous Voices Retreats, participants are invited to step gently away from the noise of everyday life and into a space where learning is lived, spirituality is experienced, and reconciliation begins within.

The Anishinabe Spiritual Centre offers 3-day and 5-day adult retreats rooted in both Anishinabe teaching and Catholic spiritual tradition, the experience invites participants into a deeper encounter with:

  • Indigenous wisdom and ways of knowing
  • Personal faith and spiritual reflection
  • The call to reconciliation as both inward journey and outward action

The Retreat Experience

Sacred Teachings, Ceremony & Story
Each day begins and ends with teachings guided by Indigenous Elders and knowledge keepers. Participants are invited into daily smudging ceremonies and, when possible, a sunrise ceremony, creating space for grounding, intention-setting, and spiritual connection. Through story and teaching, these moments offer a deeper understanding of Indigenous spirituality and ways of knowing.

Sweat Lodge Ceremony (Optional)
Participants are invited to take part in a traditional sweat lodge ceremony, guided by experienced Indigenous Elders. This sacred practice is offered with care and respect, providing an opportunity for personal reflection, renewal, and spiritual cleansing. Participation is always optional and approached through teaching and preparation.

Prayer, Mass & Reflection
Daily opportunities for prayer, reflection, and Mass are gently woven into the retreat, creating a meaningful dialogue between Catholic faith and Indigenous spiritual tradition.

Land & Water as Teacher
Time on the land, along forest paths, on the lake, or in quiet moments of stillness, becomes part of the learning. The natural beauty of Anderson Lake offers a setting where participants can reconnect with creation, finding both clarity and calm.

Silence & Rest
Unstructured time allows participants to rest, reflect, and simply be—whether sitting by the water, walking the grounds, or embracing quiet moments of solitude.

Community & Conversation
Shared meals and guided conversations foster connection, respectful dialogue, and a sense of community grounded in openness and mutual respect.

A Place to Return to Yourself

These retreats are not structured around schedules alone, but around presence.
They offer something increasingly rare—a chance to listen deeply, to rest fully, and to encounter both faith and culture in a way that is personal, meaningful, and lasting.
